School Counselor Ethics & Confidentiality

The school counseling office strives to provide a safe environment where students can feel free to share their thoughts and feelings without worry about that information being shared with others.  This ability to share freely crates a place to openly problem-solve for the student without fear of being "in trouble".  All students are informed before counseling is started of special circumstances when the counselor must get extra help for the student. By law, counselors must share students’ disclosures if there is a clear and present danger to the student and/or to other persons.
