My children aren't ready for school [poem]
“My children aren't ready for school,
Jim's two and Emily's four;
Time enough for your magazine later!”
Said my neighbor, closing the door.
“Just a moment! That's no way to greet
Your friend-- Why, if you only knew.
The National Parent-Teacher
Is written for mothers like you!”
“How so?” And the door opens slowly;
“Well ‘oaks from acorns grow,’ you know--
And ‘as the twig is bent’--
So NPT covers every age
From newborn to adolescent.
“ Infant? Toddler? Preschool child?
Though they sometime drive you wild,
You'll find help without delay--
NPT can save the day.”
“But baby books from A to Z
Are ranged upon my shelf;
Why bother with your magazine,
When I have all that help?
“Books get dated, methods too,
Like clothes your child outgrows--
But month by month our articles
Keep mothers on their toes!”
“My hands are full-- I haven't time;”
“But if you'll only read
The NPT you're sure to find
From worries you will be freed.”
“Let's see an issue.” “Here it is.”
“Why this is fine-- I'll buy;
“One twenty-five is cheap to pay,,
For help with my smallfry.”
So mothers, fathers, everyone,
Find out about the features;
Of that grade aid to family life,
The National Parent-Teacher.
