Data Validation

In February 2019, OCTAE released a series of 24 data validation elements. These are fields that OCTAE and state directors must be able to validate when reviewing data from a state program.

To verify these data elements, a new area has been added to LACES at the More area called 'Data Validation.'

The data at this area will generate and refresh every Sunday at noon. It is NOT populated 'live.'  This means that if you make a change in student records throughout the week, you will not see anything updated in the Data Validation record until the data is refreshed the following weekend.

With the exception of Funding Stream, data is independent from fiscal summaries and the NRS table rules, and populates specifically from the requirements listed below.

• Students must have at least one PoP in the fiscal year.

• Only ONE row is populated for each student per fiscal year.

• The records are read only.

• Not every data point has an actual field in LACES; some data will display from a query.  

Funding Stream and Intake Date (Intake Date may be added to a custom view at the Data Validation Area) are FY summary fields and are updated nightly.  However, remember that the Data Validation area is ONLY updated once a week.
