Student/Staff Member of the Year
In the 2003-04SY, Troy Hashimoto (c/o 2005) created the Na Ali'i of the Year Award for students and staff members. This award was developed in an attempt to boost spirit, pride, and dedication here at Kekaulike. He hoped that this award became an annual ritual here to recognize a few of the best and brightest.
NOMINATION PROCESS
Around the middle of March every student and staff member has the opportunity to nominate any student and/or staff member they feel fits the qualifications of the Student or Staff Member of the Year. The nomination forms are open for 3 weeks.
Na Ali’i Student of the Year Award Nomination Criteria
The nominee excels in academics and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.5+.
The nominee actively and consistently demonstrates Rigor, Respect, and Relevance.
The nominee is an active participant in the KKHS student activities program as an officer, senator, committee member, academic team member, club member etc.
The nominee has been a student at KKHS for at least two consecutive years (so a junior or senior) and is currently enrolled at Kekaulike.
The nominee has contributed a substantial amount in defining and enhancing KKHS by making a major contribution to make KKHS a better place to attend, bringing positive exposure or fame to the school, by founding a club, leading a group or team to success or going beyond expectations to help other students at the school.

SELECTION PROCESS
After nominations are closed, ballots are sent to just the Kekaulike Staff to vote. All the comments submitted about each nominee are shared along with the ballots. The ballots for Student and Staff Member of the Year are open for 2 weeks.
The awardees are announced during the Farewell Rally held the day before our Commencement Ceremony.
