Book Review - "The Queen"

by Kung Yi Lam Eunis (4D)

This book reveals what happened to the Royal family after the tragic death of Princess Diana in 1997.

The main character is, as the title tells us, the Queen Elizabeth II. I think the Queen is strong. When Princess Diana passed away, the Queen was definitely sad but she knew what she had to do at the moment – she took care of her two grandsons, William and Harry. She never showed her sadness to the Royals.

Although the main character is the Queen, my favourite character is Princess Diana because she was beautiful. She was the most photographed woman in the world and she looked gorgeous. She was not a perfect Royal and she made mistakes, yet many people loved her. Furthermore, Princess Diana was generous. She helped people all over the world, like sick children and prisoners' families. She did not look down on anyone.

There are several aspects I have learnt from the book. The first one is how to become a successful woman. When facing problems, you should calm down instead of grumbling or screaming. Secondly, you need to be strong. You never know what will happen. Being strong, you will not be confined by your unfavourable circumstances. Thirdly, you need to be independent, especially when you have to make a crucial decision in a difficult situation on your own.

I give 8 out of 10 for this book. After reading the book, I know more about the Royal family, for instance, their conversations with politicians. I also learn the way of how the Queen solves the problems. However, I really want to know more about the Queen when she was young. Being one of the Royal members, she must have a lot of rules to follow and, as the next heir, she certainly feels anxious. Adding such content will make the book more informative and enjoyable. It also allows readers to know more about the Queen.
