An Unlucky Shopping Experience

Fung Ying Ki (2A)

The Hong Kong Observatory has just issued typhoon signal No. 10. They say it's the strongest typhoon in the history of Hong Kong. Everyone is staying at home now but I am unique.

I am shopping for clothes in a shop. The shop assistant notices and says, "Oh! It's raining heavily outside!" The street is messy. There is a lot of rubbish on the street. Rubbish is flying everywhere. The trees on the street keep swinging. The wind is so strong that I can see the branches break and people holding onto anything to stay safe. The wind is howling and the rain is beating down like bullets. The shops close quickly. They all look afraid of this typhoon. The other shop assistant starts to tidy up and get ready to go home.

Suddenly, the lights go out. The assistant finds the flashlight immediately. Unluckily, the rain water rushes in. I take the buckets to fill the water and use the towel to dry the floor. We need to keep calm and solve the problems at that moment. The things slowly get better. Just as we start to relax, we hear a loud crash!

"What’s happening?" I scream loudly. The tree has fallen down, and struck the door. Now, we all can’t go home. I try to call people but no one replies. One of the assistants tries to call 999. Unfortunately, there is no signal. I feel disappointed and helpless. I don't know what to do. I miss my home and I want to go home. I don't want to stay here anymore. I start sobbing.

While I am crying, I hear a voice call us. “Is there anybody here?” a man shouts. "Yes, we need help! There are three people in here," I reply. The man helps us to call 999. The police arrive quickly and drive us back home.

As I am lying on my bed, I think it is a special memory for me. Although it was a dangerous experience, now I understand why we need to stay at home when a typhoon is issued.
