Today the ride is over the Chianti Hills to the Arno valley again and through to Arezzo.
The route is uphill for the first 6km and we gain nearly 400m of altitude, so that will be a bit of a slog, but after that it is downhill and then undulating as we follow the Arno upstream, with the total distance being around 67km. The route over the hills is winding and forested: the sort of country where they still hunt the wild boar that is a feature of the local sausages and raghu.
Once again we join Eurovelo 7, at San Giovanni Valdarno. To get there we have to cross a major autostrada, the river and the railway line but of course there are underpasses and bridges for that. After San Giovanni Valdarno the scenery is rolling hills with mixed farming: wheat, olives etc.
If we stop for lunch at Laterina (after about 50km) then Osteria del Vino has good reviews and outside tables.
We will stay at B&B Cento Passi dal Duomo which as the name suggests is close to the centre of town. For somewhere to eat, La Tagliatella seems to have the right vibe and wine list!
