Just some notes about the logistics of getting a bike in bike bag from the aeroplane to Firenze. We are arriving at two different times, but the "method" is the same...
The general plan is to spend the night of Saturday 6th at Fiumincino. We are all booked at Hotel De La Ville Relais. It is only a short taxi ride and I think the hotel does free transfers, but of course the bikes are an issue, so here is the plan:
When you arrive check the bike in at the left luggage facility at T3, so after you exit customs you turn right and wheel it half the length of the terminal, inside. It costs €6 for 24 hours.
Go outside and catch the shuttlebus to the Hotel De La Ville Relais hotel in Fiumicino, about five minutes away. The shuttle leaves from near that same end of T3. Have a drink, a good night's sleep, breakfast. See Tripit for details.
On Sunday morning, we all come back to T3, retrieve the bikes and take them upstairs to the train station.
Catch the train to Roma Termini. One leaves every thirty minutes at +8 from the half hour.
Catch the express train to Firenze S.M.N. One leaves every thirty minutes at +20 from the half hour.
Walk three blocks to Hotel Mario's.
Coming back is simpler, straight off the train and book the luggage in. The train trip from Firenze to the airport takes 2:30 or less.
