Stuffed Animals Come to School!
For the next while in Grade 1/2, we will be working on sorting, graphing and taking surveys during Math. As an introduction to this unit, we sorted and graphed the stuffed animals that we brought to school for Pajama Day! What fun we had - it seemed like we were having a sleepover party right here in class! As you can see we had a variety of stuffed animals that helped us with our learning!
In Social Studies, we have been learning map skills along with discussing important places in our community. We combined this knowledge and made our own map of Balmertown. Check out our great creations of local businesses, shops and offices. Of course we included Goldcorp mine, the Recreation Centre and Golden Learning Centre too!
In class we have been reading some wonderful books to help us explore the meaning of Christmas. These books have shown us that there is more to Christmas than receiving gifts. It is also about friendship, love, sharing and giving to others without expecting something in return.
As generous as our class has been (i.e. Christmas Cheer and Christmas shoeboxes), I have one more project in mind that will have us sharing with others. I will let you know more once all the arrangements have been made. Please stay tuned...
The Grade 1 students communicate the results of their recent surveys!
