On Thursday December 17th, at 10:35 we will be making hamburger barley soup for the Red Lake Emergency Shelter. To make this soup, I am asking that each student make a small contribution. In addition to the ingredients for the soup, I thought we could also bring some buns to add to the meal. In discussion with the class, each student has volunteered to bring one item. Please see the sign up listed below. I am asking that everyone bring their items this Wednesday so I can ensure we have all the required items.
Hamburger Barley Soup (we will double this recipe)
1 ½ lbs. ground beef - Ms. Wiwcharyk
7 ½ C. water
4 beef bouillon cubes – Kierstin (1 box)
2 C. carrots shredded – Grace/Makayla (4 carrots each)
1 ½ C. celery chopped - Serena (4 stalks)
¼ C. green pepper – Kamdyn/Beckett (1 pepper each)
2/3 C pot barley – Leila (1 bag)
1 ½ C onion chopped – Camden (2 onions)
1C. ketchup – Sadie (1 small bottle – no name is good)
1 C. tomato sauce – Adriana (1 large can)
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. pepper – Nevaeh (1 small container)
¼ tsp. basil – Brooklyn (1 bag)
¼ tsp. thyme – Everett (1 bag)
2 bay leaves – Bryce (1 bag)
¼. C. tomato juice – Ryan (I large can)
Buns – Michael, Naleena, Lexi, Max (1 doz. each )
