Dear Parents,
Please help your child bring Flat Stanley on an adventure about the Red Lake area! Before Christmas, we were contacted by a primary school in Brisbane, Australia to see if we would like to participate in an exchange. To get us started, we read a few books in the Flat Stanley series. In these books, we learned how Stanley was flattened by a bulletin board and became only 2 inches thick. As a result, he was able to go on many adventures such as travel by mail, fly like a kite, and catch sneak thieves. Since then, we have received our Flat Stanley characters from Aspley State School. To help the students in this class understand where we come from, I thought it would be interesting if we could bring these characters around Red Lake and take some photos (see my examples below). Ideally, it would be great if these photos show something specific to our geographic area and town. After you take your photo, please send an electronic copy to my school address or print a copy of your photo. I will then forward these pictures along with our Flat Stanley characters and letters that we will be writing. I’m sure the students in Prep M will be fascinated with how we live in Northern Ontario.
To learn more about Flat Stanley, you may want to the visit the website at www.flatstanleybooks.com . If you click on the “Parents” tab there is a “Flat Stanley Picture Gallery” link that will show pictures that others have taken. As you can see, Stanley has travelled to some very interesting places! You can even add your own picture to the Gallery as well.
Please return the photos by Wednesday January 27th. I will NOT be sending home the Yellow workbook so you can focus your efforts on taking Flat Stanley somewhere interesting.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email or send a note in the Agenda.
Thanks,
Candace
