Action Alert from Jeffco PTA:

The Children’s Health Insurance Program

CHIP will becoming to an end for Colorado in January 2018 unless our Senators can agree to prioritize the health of our children and on how to pay for the program. To fund this critical health insurance program for nearly 90,000 Colorado CHIP kids and pregnant women and 9 million others across the United States, cuts are proposed to Medicaid and the Prevention and Public Health Fund. Prevention and Public Health funding is critical to our state – the proposal would cut tens of millions of dollars from public health programs in Colorado. This funding supports lead poisoning prevention, smoking cessation and breastfeeding support in our communities.

We need to tell Congress that healthy kids shouldn’t come at the expense of healthy communities. There’s still time for lawmakers to do the right thing. Call your Senators and let them know you expect them to keep kids and our communities healthy.
