Put yourself in the mind of Charles Darwin. Look at Figures 7.3 to 7.6 that show different objects – each was observed by Darwin and helped him develop his theory of evolution.
For each figure, think what might be going on or what a relevant observation might be. Back up your interpretation with reasons. Think about what this makes you wonder about the object. So, in this activity you see, think and wonder (it helps if you do these all at the same time, for each figure):
• What do you see?
• What do you think about that?
• What does it make you wonder?
Write down your ideas on paper.
You will need to start separate sentences with ‘I see …’, ‘I think …’, ‘I wonder …’.
Share your ideas with a small group, and then with the whole class.
