Season's Greetings from Green Bellevue!

Post date: Dec 21, 2016 8:02:25 PM

During this holiday season we reflect on how far we have come since our inception seven years ago. We are thankful for all of the volunteers, members and partners who have supported us over the years and who have contributed to our success. We are proud to say that Bellevue has become a regional leader in recycling with Green Bellevue and the City working together to educate the pubic and improve recycling options. Green Bellevue members have also made large strides in protecting our pollinators (specifically by planting milkweed for monarchs) and taking action to control invasive species (tree of heaven, emerald ash borer, honeysuckle, and others). But, there is always more work to be done and we are already busy making plans for the coming year. We remain dedicated to creating a more beautiful and environmentally-friendly community and to preserving the Earth for future generations. To accomplish this, it's necessary as individuals, and as a community, to continue to learn and incorporate best practices for conservation and care of our resources. For 2017, Green Bellevue volunteers are planning to continue monthly educational meetings and will host the Sarpy County Earth Day Expo on April 30th. We will be also be working to improve recycling in the Bellevue Public Schools; planting and maintaining community gardens; creating invasive species action plans; and focusing on clean energy, water conservation and sustainable agriculture.

Each one of us can make a difference. We look forward to another year of working together. We are Green Bellevue!

Happy Holidays!
