Bellevue has been producing successful EARTH-KIND® rose gardens for several years earning the city of Bellevue the honor in 2010 of being named an “American Rose City”. The goal is to introduce garden visitors to America's national flower, the rose, and to educate gardeners on this sustainable planting method. The following are our current locations of the rose beds:
Everett – 3 roses garden (121 roses) and 3 perennial beds. These roses are dedicated to our former Mayor Ed Babbitt who was interested in the roses and in Everett Park.Depot – approximately 50 roses 9-11 site – 64 roses with a few more to be put in this spring Bellevue West – Medium rose bed where there are 80 roses, flag pole bed, main entrance bed, hill on the east side of the gym and trees in the back
Sustainable gardening methods are also used at the Triangle and Log Cabin.
Bob and Joanne Langabee are the primary gardeners caring for the gardens. Students in the Congressional Awards Club of Bellevue West assist them in maintenance.
