ZERO FOOD WASTE

Speaker: Dr. Mike Shambaugh-Miller, Executive Director, Produce from the Heart

Hear how Produce from the Heart, a nonprofit based in Lincoln, works to help alleviate hunger in Nebraska's communities by collecting donated, unmarketable or excess produce from local farms, farmers markets, community gardens and household gardens. The donated produce is then transported to a food pantry, church, or soup kitchen within the community.

COMMUNITY SOLAR

Customers looking for a maintenance free, low risk opportunity to purchase renewable energy now have the option to participate in Omaha Public Power District’s first solar generation facility by purchasing shares of solar energy. Learn how you can enroll in OPPD's new community solar program to use clean, locally generated energy without installing rooftop solar panels.

FLOODPLAIN PROJECT

Take a glimpse into the world of the Missouri River floodplain and learn about its ecology, functions, and how it is changing. Alex Wiles is a conservation photographer, presenter, and environmental educator based out of Omaha, Nebraska. His interest in conservation initiatives takes him around the world where he documents the challenges faced by wildlife and the work of those who wish to protect it.
