Classes Taught:

Computer Science
Background:
I've lived in San Diego for 15 years, first as an engineering student at UCSD, then working for Scripps Institution of Oceanography. For 7 years I sailed the world's oceans supporting research vessels. In 2011, I went back to school for my teaching credential and worked at High Tech High for 2 years. I've been with The Grauer School since 2014.
What Students Can Expect:
I have three goals while teaching.
1) The classroom should be a safe place to explore, make mistakes, learn, make friends and have fun.
2) I want to help students connect what we are learning with what they can see, do, feel, and experience in the real world.
3) I want to help students become independent problem solvers (and problem finders).
So, you can expect a light hearted caring environment with an approachable teacher, but expect to work hard and to try a fair amount of problems that are sometimes tricky, confusing and not so straightforward (just like the real world).
Also expect a lot of lame jokes. A lot.
Other Interests:
Surfing with friends, music, building stuff, spearfishing, working on cars and cooking/eating.
