8. Business Math

Course Description:

In this course students will learn the math behind personal finance and how to create a budget and effectively manage their money. They will continue with a unit about career choices and taxes. They will also learn about banking and credit cards. In all aspects, the goal will be to make the knowledge relevant to real world situations to better help our students have a good sense of how math can be used to further their career opportunities and help them with day to day math-based life skills.

In this course, students will learn to use mathematics effectively as a tool in their personal and business lives. This includes the math behind personal finance: creating a budget, effectively managing money, career and financial goals, establishing good credit, and saving for the future. We will also learn the fundamentals of taxes, estate planning and insurance. On the business side, we will learn about different types of business opportunities, identifying sources of funding, financial accounting and planning for growth.

And additional selected topics from Financial Fitness for Life as well as a unit on franchising and marketing.
