GHS Course Registration and Placement
GHS Online Course Registration is now closed.
If you have any questions, please contact the GHS School Counseling Office at 860-652-7200 x11800
Please review the Program of Studies and the Registration Directions below. The Program of Studies contains valuable information about matters relating to your course requests including course descriptions, prerequisites, lengths of class meeting times, course credit values, changes in program offerings, and credit requirements for graduation.
Online registration is the first step in the course request process. Online registration is now closed.
All students will meet with school counselors to discuss and finalize course requests. Students who submit their online course requests on time will receive their schedules before September and have an opportunity to make appropriate educational changes. No schedule changes will be allowed once school begins in September.
Course Levels
We level classes to match content and tempo with student interests and abilities. Unfortunately, the words “Level 1” and “Level 2” can give the wrong impression. In Glastonbury, Level 2 is a rigorous academic level of study. It is the best fit for the majority of our students. Level 1 is designed to serve students who are exceeding grade-level expectations. It should be considered as an honors-level of study.
It’s important that your children are challenged at the correct level. If a class is too easy or too hard, learning, growth, and a student’s enthusiasm all decline.
We urge students and parents to carefully consider teacher recommendations for course placement. Our teachers make these recommendations with care. They know your children and are experienced in identifying the best academic “fit” for them.
If you question a level recommendation, please talk with your child about it. We encourage you to take some time to complete this Student Self Reflection Form together. This tool will guide you to consider your child’s current work habits and their strengths and weaknesses.
Course Placement/Leveling
