GHS Accreditation

Background Information

Every ten years Glastonbury High School undergoes an accreditation process. People consider accredited organizations to be legitimate establishments in their field. In education, accreditation is by no means an easy undertaking.

The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEAS&C) accredits GHS. NEAS&C is the nation’s oldest accrediting association and it serves over 2,000 schools, colleges, and universities. Being accredited signifies that Glastonbury High School achieves rigorous educational standards and is committed to continually improving.

According to NEAS&C, accreditation is an expression of confidence in the institution’s purposes, performances, and human and financial resources.

2018 Accreditation

In 2016-2017 Glastonbury High School staff members underwent an 18-month comprehensive self-study as part of its most recent accreditation process. The self-study reports are linked to the right.

Next, in the fall of 2017, the NEAS&C Committee conducted a four-day site visit at GHS. The committee participated in observations and tours throughout the school, examinations of student work, and meetings with administrators, staff, students and parents.

Following the visit, the NEAS&C Visiting Team issued their accreditation report evaluating GHS on their seven standards. The report included both commendations and recommendations. It was presented to the Glastonbury Public Schools Board of Education in February 2018. The executive summary and full report are both linked below.
