11:00 AM Motor coaches arrive at Ft. Zumwalt West High School;

11:30 AM Depart for Newark, NJ (970 miles, 16.5 driving hours plus stops via PA Turnpike;

995 miles, 17.5 hours via I-70, I-76 and I-80. Motor coach company will recommend most efficient routing. Change clocks to Eastern Time)

TBD PM Dinner en route (fast food, student cost, 1 hour suggested)

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11

AM Breakfast en route (student cost, 1 hour or less)

7:30 AM Arrive in New York City at Rockefeller Center

Located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, it is known for its big Christmas tree and ice skating in winter, Today Show concerts, Radio City Music Hall and Saturday Night Live. There is a vast array of options for shopping and dining, whether you're looking to purchase high-end goods or just grab a quick bite to eat.

10:00 AM Group meets at Rockefeller Center/NBC Studios

TBD AM Experience the NBC Studios Tour

Tracing radio and television back to 1933, the tour brings some of NBC’s classic programs back to life--programs that were created in the same studios that bring us today’s entertainment.

PM Lunch on own in area (student cost)

1:00 PM Explore Fifth Avenue in chaperoned groups

Stores like Louis Vuitton, Tiffany’s Gucci and Versace, to the NBA Store, FAO Schwartz and the famous Apple Store, there are enough over-the-top shopping opportunities here to satisfy everyone’s taste.

4:00 PM Meet back at Rockefeller Plaza. Group eats dinner at Cucina Italian Restaurant

5:30 PM Walk to Top of the Rock

The six level observatory atop the Art Deco skyscraper, 30 Rockefeller Plaza which offers fantastic 360 degree view of the New York City Skyline!

7:30 PM Load motor coaches; depart for hotel

THURSDAY, MARCH 12

Morning Ft. Zumwalt West HS Orchestra participates in an Instrumental Broadway Clinic

Clinic is 2 hours in length. These advanced level clinics provide performing groups the opportunity to work on their current repertoire or a new piece with world- class artists from renowned concert bands, orchestras, opera companies and Broadway shows. Clinics take places in a variety of private studios.

Noon Lunch on your own, TBD (Student cost, local delis, depending on location of Clinic)

1:00 PM Load motor coaches; depart for the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is one of America’s leading historic, cultural and educational institutions. The Museum is centered on the aircraft carrier Intrepid (CVS-11), one of the most successful ships in US history, and now a national historic landmark and one of the most unique attractions in New York City. The Museum features a range of interactive exhibits and events providing a snapshot of heroism, education, and excitement.

3:00 PM Load motor coaches, depart for the Strawberry Fields Memorial in Central

Park

4:00 PM Load motor coaches, depart for the Hard Rock Café, Times Square

4:30 PM Meet for a group dinner at the Hard Rock Café

Dinner to include: Choice of Cheeseburger, Bacon Cheeseburger, Cajun Chicken Sandwich, Veggie Burger, Bab-b-que Pork Sandwich – served with Chocolate chip cookie, coffee, tea, or soft drink

Afterwards Explore Times Square and the Theatre District in small groups

From the indoor Ferris wheel at Toys ‘R’ Us, MTV Store, and every type of NYC souvenir store you can imagine to the Ed Sullivan Theater (home to the Late Show with David Letterman), you will never see another place like it!

AM Depart for the South Ferry

This is one of New York City’s oldest open spaces. Located at the tip of Manhattan overlooking New York Harbor, over four million people, including residents, office workers, school groups, and tourists from around the world annually visit the park and its major landmark, Castle Clinton National Monument.

9:30 AM Depart on a ferry at Battery Park aboard the Staten Island Ferry

One of New York City’s oldest public open spaces, located at the top of Manhattan overlooking New York Harbor, over four million people, including residents, office workers, school groups and tourist from around the world annually visit the park and its major landmark, Castle Clinton National Monument.

10:00 AM Aboard the Staten Island Ferry you will have a perfect view of The Statue of

Liberty and Ellis Island. You’ll see the skyscrapers and bridges of Lower Manhattan receding as you pull away and coming into focus again as you return.

10:30 AM Walk to the South Street Seaport

Located on the site of what was once the busiest port in America, today it’s a combination maritime museum and mall offering insight into New York’s rich maritime history and providing a great place for shopping and dining

1:00 PM Walk to the Tribute World Trade Center 9/11 Visitor Center

1:30 PM Free time to explore the visitor’s center

A place where visitors can connect with people from the September 11th community, the Center offers “Person to Person History,” linking people who want to understand and appreciate these historic events on September 11th, the identity of 2,973 people killed in the attacks, the unprecedented rescue and recovery operations and the tremendous spirit of support and generosity that arose after the attacks.

2:30 PM Walk to the National September 11th Memorial

This 16-acre site features two enormous waterfalls and reflecting pools, each about an acre in size, set within the footprints of the original twin towers. Its design conveys a spirit of hope and renewal, and creates a contemplative space separate from the usual sights and sounds of a bustling metropolis.
