SUBMITTING A PLAYING TEST

Here is how you set up and submit a playing test recording...

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

1. Make sure to sign in to CANVAS.

2. If your playing test is short - less than 4 minutes - you can just record directly onto Canvas!

2a. Click "Submit Assignment" on your assignment page

2b. Scroll to the bottom; above the "Submit Assignment" button - there will be tabs for your file location options

2c. Click on "Media"

2d. Click on "Record/Upload Media"

be sure to give Canvas access to your microphone and webcam

2e. Record your test

2f. If you decide to re-record it, you will lose your first attempt.

2g. Submit your assignment

If you have an extremely long test, feel free to use a different recording device - or simply use a different recording device from the start. Phones, Chromebooks, Tablets, etc. all have recording capabilities these days. There are also online resources:

MAKING THE RECORDING (non-Canvas)

3. Open your recording device and record yourself playing.

-please listen to yourself so you can self-critique. Play and record yourself a second, third, or sixteenth time, if need be.

4. Save your recording.

-give it an easily recognizable name. For example: "Playing Test #1 - NameOfPiece"

5. Your recording program/application may have a different system of saving, but an easy option would be to save your file to your Google Drive.

6. Sign in to Canvas and click on the Playing Test Assignment listed for your class/hour of Orchestra.

7. Click "Submit Assignment" on your assignment page.

8. Scroll to the bottom; above the "Submit Assignment" button - there will be tabs for your file location options

8a. Click on "Google Drive (LTI 1.1)"

8b. Select your file

If you save the file directly onto your device, you can upload to Canvas stright from there, also... Do steps 1-8., but then select

8a. Media

8b. "Record/Upload"

8c. Find your file

9. Congratulations. Now, wait for playing test results.

**you may "unsubmit" your playing test, but if you do that, it will no longer be 'turned in'. If you do not re-submit it by the due date, it will be considered a missing assignment.**
