This project introduces students to the Pop Art movement. They learn how to integrate technology as they use the computer to alter a digital photo of themselves or of a Pop Icon (in true Warhol fashion!) Students complete an online scavenger hunt to learn about Andy Warhol and then follow the steps below to create their own Warhol inspired portrait.Warhol Scavenger HuntTo “Warholize” yourself1. Take picture with strong contrast, in light.2. Open it in Photoshop.
3. Crop Pic as desired.
4. Save to the Warhol assignment in Google Classroom. Save as your name #1. Save as a JPEG
5. Open same picture and alter it as instructed below, make sure you Save As a separate file.
5. Image -Mode- Grayscale. OR Image - Adjustments-Black & White. Play around and see which you like best.
6. Image – Adjustments –Posterize.
7. Choose level (2 thru 4 work best but no more than 5).
8. Save As your name #2 (do not overwrite original pic) in Google Classroom. Again, save as a JPEG
9. Print a copy of posterized image. (for reference when you go to paint)
10. Project desired size onto Smartboard, tape up paper, and trace the posterized areas in pencil. Be sure to unplug USB.
11. Paint in with desired color scheme…NEATLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
