Fashion Design & Illustration
Description:
This is a half year class that studies the “art” of fashion throughout time. The course follows a timeline approach. This is a drawing intensive class that culminates with a year-end fashion show.
Requirements:
Students are required to complete all projects on time and in their entirety. 8-10 fashion designs (depending on time) will be required during the semester as well as several sketches to plan and perfect the final design.
Expectations::
Come to class ON TIME, prepared with pencil and good attitude.
3 Lates = lunch detention, call home
5 Lates = after school detention, call home
Leave cell phone and ipod in locker or in classroom basket.
1st offense: warning
2nd: lunch detention
3rd: after school detention, call home
Participate in all critiques and class discussions, they are considered heavily in grading.
Give 100% creativity…NO SLACKING!
Projects are due ON TIME! And must demonstrate your understanding of the assignment as well as all accompanying work (sketches, planning, evaluations…etc.)

Grading Policy:
Grading is based heavily on effort and creativity, not just finished product. The following is the breakdown for grades . . .
60% projects (grading rubric provided with each project)
20% Effort/Creativity/Concepts
20% Participation/Evaluations/Critiques
Projects:
Human Figure: Several studies in human form and posture will result in one or two good models for your subsequent fashion designs in the following time periods.

Roman/Greek
Medieval
Renaissance
Elizabethan
Baroque & Rococo
Empire & Regency
Romantic & Victorian
Edwardian/Gilded Age/Belle Epoque
Art Deco
Great Designers
The final project will be an original garment design for the fashion show.
