Concentration: This is a full credit elective art course open to Juniors and Seniors. Students will learn all aspects of drawing throughout this course; from still lives to figure drawing to three dimensional representations. With various traditional materials students will develop skills to reach their full potential as an illustrator. This course also develops each students painting skills and techniques. Students will develop their own painting style as they explore the qualities of different types of paint.
Prerequisite: Studio in Art
Class Expectations:
Come to class ON TIME, prepared with pencil and good attitude.
3 Lates = lunch detention, call home
5 Lates = after school detention, call home
Leave cell phone and ipod in locker or in classroom basket.
1st offense: warning, 2nd: lunch detention, 3rd: after school detention, call home
Participate in all critiques and class discussions, they are considered heavily in grading.

Projects are due ON TIME! And must demonstrate your understanding of the assignment as well as all accompanying work (sketches, planning, evaluations…etc.)
Finish all projects with 100% effort; polished, neat, and complete.

Projects:
The first half of the year focuses on drawing. Projects include still life, drawing from a reference, drawing from imagination, pencil, colored pencil, shading, drawing techniques, pastel, oil pastel, pen, and marker. In the second part of the year we concentrate on painting. Projects include watercolor series, tempera, acrylic, and oil. Students will also study an artist or style of their choosing and do projects based on their research.
Extra credit is available at any time by bringing in such items as newspaper, magazines, sturdy cardboard, clean white sheets, paper towel rolls, plastic containers, and various household items.
