Drug & Alcohol Prevention Program Certification

Policies and penalties associated with drug-related offences are outlined by the ESSEC Chart of Behavior.

The US Department of Education provides information on the penalties associated with drug-related offences under the US Higher Education Act. Should you lose eligibility for your US student loan as a result of these penalties, we will provide you with a written notice which notifies you of your loss of eligibility and advises you of the ways in which to regain eligibility.

This policy statement applies to all members of staff, students and to visitors of the ESSEC community.

ESSEC is committed to seeking to safeguard the health and safety of those who use its facilities.

ESSEC is concerned to ensure that the health of staff and students, their ability to work and the environment and the community life of the campus are not impaired by abuse of alcohol and drugs. ESSEC is keen to ensure students are aware of the risks associated with drug use and alcohol over-consumption. The risks concern personal safety and wellbeing as well as illegality. If you think you have a problem with drugs or alcohol, there are professional sources of support available. ESSEC strongly encourages you to access ESSEC’s psychologists for informal support, guidance and more information. Counsellors' contact details will be made available once you are admitted to the program and through to the online platform for all admitted and current students.

Counseling is free of charge and anonymous.

I. ALCOHOL

1.1 ESSEC encourages those who consume alcohol to do so sensibly and responsibly.

1.2 ESSEC will not tolerate any form of drinking and driving and it is the responsibility of each student to take action.

1.3 A member of the ESSEC community whose drink –related problem has come to the attention of his/her Manager will be given opportunity to discuss the matter with the appropriate service at ESSEC.

1.4 Any member of the ESSEC community who wishes to seek advice or help about alcohol consumption should contact the ESSEC nurse.

1.5 Administrative sanctions may be taken against alcohol-related problem. ESSEC may take prompt corrective action to prevent injury, damage or other serious risk.

II. DRUGS

2.1 ESSEC recognizes its responsibility to comply with the law and to cooperate with the appropriate external agencies in any action required to ensure that no criminal activity takes place on campus.

2.2 ESSEC will seek to increase the understanding of its members about the implications and consequences of the abuse of illegal drugs.

2.3 Any member of the ESSEC community who wishes to seek advice or help about drug-related problem should meet with the campus nurse.

2.4 A member of the ESSEC community whose drug –related problem has come to the attention of his/her Manager will be given opportunity to discuss the matter with the appropriate service at ESSEC.
