There are FOUR things to do this summer:
1. READ at least THREE plays.
Ms. Guzowski will send you a list of recommended plays just for you.
Please read at least ONE play from the list Ms. Guzowski sends you as one of the THREE plays you read this summer.
HONORS: Try to read each play in ONE sitting. If you cannot do this, then please read through the ACT before you put your play down.
HL/SL: Read each play in ONE sitting. The idea is to read the play in one sitting so that you experience the play as you would in the theater.
2. WATCH at least THREE live plays. These plays can be in-person or be videos of LIVE productions.
Ms. Guzowski will update THIS PAGE with play recommendations, but you can watch any three plays you like, they do NOT have to be from Ms. Guzowski's list.
Watch each play in ONE sitting per play. The idea is to view the play in one sitting so that you experience the play as you would in the theater.
4. JOURNAL - write in your journal about:
The plays you read. **Your notes don't have to be long, but you will need these notes in November to help your responses to the plays you read.***
The plays you watch.
Journal your response to the plays you watch, INCLUDING:
moments that affect you & identify how TEAM is used and created in these moments
moments that you want to understand how the artists created
5. HL: Write Collaborative Paper & Checkins with Ms. G. - I'll leave more about this soon.
HL (from the IB guide): The students should use their theatre journal to specifically document their research (carefully recording allsources used), practical explorations, the process of creating their solo performance, directing and design ideas and feedback from their mentors and the teacher and the action they have taken in response to this. Students will select, adapt and present what they have recorded in their journal as the basis and material for the report.
ENJOY YOURSELF!! HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!!!
