The Chickering School guidance counselor provide services to all children in the school community needing or seeking on-going support, crisis intervention, prevention, or skills assistance. The guidance counselor also meets with parent(s)/guardians(s) and teachers as needed to help collaboratively address student concerns. The guidance counselor’s role is also to educate and support parents/guardians, to conduct parent/guardian workshops and apprise them of outside resources and opportunities. With help from the Special Education Department, counselors and the school psychologist created a list of community resources available to families in need of support. Once the need for support has been identified, careful consideration is given to matching the family with the appropriate outside provider. All protocols for confidentiality are followed and appropriate release forms are signed.
