Chickering School is committed to working in partnership with parents/guardians to ensure a safe, inclusive environment for all students. We expect all members of the Chickering community to share in the core values of respect, responsibility and kindness. The following outlines a sequence of steps that we use to guide our response to student misbehavior at Chickering: in the building, on the playground, and on the bus. At times, school staff may proceed directly to a report to the Principal or Assistant Principal if the seriousness of the situation warrants this.
Step 1: Verbal Warning from Teacher or Staff Member
Step 2: Meeting with the Teacher.
Step 3: Meeting with the Principal or Assistant Principal.
Any student who is removed from school for a disciplinary offense under G.L. c. 37 H or 37H1/2 for more than ten consecutive days will have an opportunity to receive educational services and make academic progress during the period of removal under a school-wide education service plan, and will be so informed at the time of the suspension/expulsion.
