Beginning in kindergarten, students at Chickering are able to access the Internet. All students who access online resources at Chickering must pledge to follow the Responsible Use Internet Agreement. We have three versions of this agreement: one for kindergartners and first graders, one for second and third graders, and one for fourth and fifth graders.
Acceptance of the terms of the agreement is done through the annual Student Verification form. We use this agreement, content filtering software, keyword filtering software, a firewall, Internet safety education, and adult supervision in order to keep students safe while on the Internet.
If a student breaks the terms of the agreement, the privilege of using the Internet is taken away for his or her own safety and the student has a discussion with appropriate school personnel.
