Now that you know what the program and the Sphero are capable of, it is time for you to practice some basic coding. This should not take you long since you should be familiar with some basic coding concepts from our Coding Unit.
Ready?! Get your assigned Sphero. Remember to ONLY keep YOUR device synced to your Sphero! Make sure each of you are doing the trial codes on your own computers so if someone is absent, you will have the code to still run.
1) Please have a team member get your assigned device.
2) As a team, view the first tutorial and complete the square together in the SPHERO EDU app. Remember, the goal is to learn the program while seeing what it is capable of doing, not to simply complete the assignment. Once you have created the square, watch the second tutorial to make the code more efficient. Lastly, watch this third tutorial to show you how to add lights and sounds. Please note that you will hear the sounds from your Chromebook, not the Sphero itself. Then take a video by going to the APPS (circle at the bottom left hand of the screen of the Chromebook) and finding CAMERA (be sure to switch to Video Camera) of your completed task (with lights and sounds) and include a view (in your video) of the SPHERO EDU program that you ran on the Chromebook.
3) Next, create a program that draws a star (it must start and stop and the same location) (hint: the blocks are the exact same as the square. You just need to modify the number of loops and the angle. If you don't know what angles you should use, refer to this illustration for help.) Be sure to add lights and sounds to this one as well. Videotape this successful run as well as the code to run it.
Go to Google Classroom, click on Robotics Project Topic and find the Practice assignment. Link the two videos by selecting Add from Files (it should be in your downloads), be sure to include images or video of the code, be sure to add all groups members in the comment section and submit. I will grade each member based on that one submission.
