Now that you know what the Tello Drone is capable of, you must set up the Tello and open DroneBlocks. This should not take you long since you should be familiar with some basic coding concepts from our Coding Unit. Make sure each of you are doing the trial codes on your own computers so if someone is absent, you will have the code to still run. You do not have to start on the X for the Practice assignment. If you do (and use the code from the Practice assignment), the Drone will fly into the lockers. You may adjust where you start or you may adjust the distance it travels. A FULL NEW battery gets about 13 minutes of straight fly time. Use your energy wisely as you only get one full charge per class.
1) 1) Please have a team member get your assigned device.
2) View the video tutorial Part I and Part II to create the program to make the drone perform the functions to make a square. Be sure to watch the entire video so you make the square using the repeat block. Be sure to listen to the video as well as watch it to understand why and how I am doing what I am doing (especially since it can be difficult to see the app). Remember, the goal is to learn the program while seeing what it is capable of doing, not to simply complete the assignment. Take a video of the successful run of this program. Be sure to include the code in the video as well. (Take a video by going to the APPS (circle at the bottom left hand of the screen on your Chromebook) and finding CAMERA (be sure to switch to Video Camera) of your completed app. Be sure to showcase everything you've programmed as well as your completed DroneBlocks code in the video.)
3) Next, create a new project. Program it to perform the operations to create a star. (hint: the blocks are the exact same as the square. You just need to modify the number of loops and the angle. If you don't know what angles you should use, refer to this illustration for help.) Take a video of the successful run of this program. Be sure to include the code in the video as well.
Go to Google Classroom, click on Robotics Project Topic and find the Practice assignment. Link BOTH videos by selecting Add from Files (it should be in your downloads), be sure to add all groups members in the comment section and submit. I will grade each member based on that one submission.
