*Brent Anderson and Linda Gund Anderson

Denver Academy alumni Brent Anderson (Class of 2005), recently visited D.A. to share stories from his book, “Unintentional Humor” (http://unintentionalhumor.com), with Elementary and Middle School students.  Brent co-authored the book with his mother, Linda Gund Anderson, and teamed with cartoonists who illustrated many of the idioms and expressions that he struggled to understand due to his literal interpretation of language. During their visit, the Andersons shared cartoons that represent sayings such as “Pig out,” “You’re driving me up the wall” and “Fly by the seat of your pants.” Students were encouraged to guess the meanings. Respect was the overall message of their presentation--students learned that people may picture or understand things differently, but that's OK.

Autographed copies of Unintentional Humor are for sale for $10 in the Chapel library ($5 goes back to the Denver Academy Library); for more information, contact Jolene Gutiérrez.
