Mother's Day Chocolate Bouquet

What you will need:

  • DOVE ® Dark Chocolate PROMISES ® in assorted flavors
  • green paint
  • bamboo skewers
  • scissors
  • colorful cardstock
  • double-sided tape
  • hot glue gun
  • floral arranging foam
  • vase (preferably opaque)

Instructions:

Start by painting the bamboo skewers green. You can actually buy pre-painted green skewers in the floral section of any major craft store. Cut some flower shapes out of colorful, heavy cardstock. You really do need to use a nice, sturdy cardstock for this project, because these paper flowers are going to provide the support for the chocolate petals. Construction paper just isn't going to cut it. You could trace around a flower cookie cutter if you happen to have one, but you could easily free-hand the flower or find some free clipart to use as a template. Cut out the cardstock flowers. Glue the bamboo sticks to the back of the flowers. This could probably be done with tape if necessary. The flowers might be a little heavy for that once they're laden with chocolate. Apply double-sided tape to the paper flowers, and then simply stick your chocolate petals right on! Fast and easy. Use a contrasting color/flavor of the DOVE® PROMISES® for the center of the petals. Plus, then you get to sample all of the delicious possibilities. ;-) Once the flowers have been made, trim a piece of floral foam to fit inside a vase. Stick the flowers in the foam and add a few cardstock leaves, if you'd like.

CREATE YOUR OWN MOTHER’S DAY BOOKMARK & CARD SET

What you will need:

Instructions:

1. First, you want to prepare your watercolor paper. You can use a pencil and ruler to draw the dimensions of the card and bookmark. The paper that we used was 11 x 15 inches, cut in half so each piece was 11 x 7.5 inches. One piece of watercolor paper can make 2 sets of cards and bookmarks. Measure 2 inches for the bookmark and draw a pencil line like in the photo above. So this will make your card 9 inches wide, mark the fold line for your card at 4.5 inches.

2. Tape down your watercolor paper. If you don’t have a board to tape it to or are doing this as a classroom project, you can try taping the paper down to the desks. You can just use 1 piece of tape where you marked out your fold line. If you are using a wooden board to tape your paper to, you can also tape around all the edges like in the picture above. You do not need to put a piece of tape where the bookmark is.

3. Using a white oil pastel, draw in your design. There are two parts to this painting, the card, and the bookmark, so remember to treat each part separately and not to write words over both parts. You can draw flowers, hearts, line designs, and doodles. You can write the word “Mom”, “I love you”, their name and date, or whatever you like! Remember to press hard with your oil pastel and draw thick lines so your drawing shows up when you paint over it.

4. Once you have finished drawing out your designs with oil pastels, it’s time to paint! You can mix the colors on a palette with some water or use the colors straight from the paint set, depending on how dark you want the colors to be. It’s always a good idea to have some scrap paper handy to test out your colors. First, paint the paper with clean water. If the paper gets too wet, simply use a paper towel to dab off the extra water. While the paper is still wet, start to paint with your watercolors and watch their beautiful designs show through!

5. Once the painting is done, let the paper dry completely. If you want to speed up the process a bit, you can use a hairdryer on a low setting to help.

6. Once everything is dry, carefully take off the tape. Cut out your bookmark, trimming off the white edges if you like. Fold your card in half to finish it off.

How to make Edible Pudding Slime

What you will need:

  • 1/4 cup instant pudding mix
  • 1 cup corn starch
  • 1/3 cup warm water

Instructions:

  1. Add instant pudding mix and half of your cornstarch to a mixing bowl. Add 1/3 cup water and stir until slime begins to form (it will be pretty sticky at this point)
  2. Slowly add the rest of your cornstarch, stirring as you go. When slime thickens and is hard to stir with a spoon, finish kneading by hand.
