1. Describe how you would make the decision regarding going to the doctor vs. trying to keep finances in the black. What if children were involved—would that change your decision making process? If so, how?
2. Are you surprised about the electric company deposit request? Why?
3. Observe how easy it was for Morgan and Alex to get into an argument over finances. What is the underlying feeling that you think is at the cause of the conflict?
4. If you took home $7 per hour (min. wage, after taxes), how many hours would you have to work a month in order to afford $1800 in expenses?
5. What would you have to give up to make ends meet?
6. What separates the working poor from the “middle class” in the U.S.? Do you think we as a society should do a better job of helping people in that situation? Why or why not?
