Drive Tips
Prevent others from downloading, printing, and copying shared Drive files
To disable download, print, and copy options in Drive
Go to drive.google.com.
Select a file or folder that you own.
At the top, click .In the bottom-right corner, click Advanced.
Do one of the following options:
Click Save changes.
Click Done.
Now, anyone with view or comment access will see the download, print, and copy options grayed out.
To disable download, print, and copy options in Docs, Sheets, or Slides
Open a Docs, Sheets, or Slides file that you own.
At the top, click Share.
In the bottom-right corner, click Advanced.
Check the Disable options to download, print, and copy for commenters and viewers box.
Click Save changes.
Click Done.
Now, anyone with view or comment access will see the download, print, and copy options grayed out.
Edit files stored in Drive directly in Microsoft Office
To download and install the Google Drive plug-in for Microsoft Office
Go to the Google Drive plug-in for Microsoft Office page.
Download and install the plug-in.
To open and edit existing Drive files in Microsoft Office
In Microsoft Office, go to your Open options and select Google Drive.
Choose any file stored in Drive to start editing it. Any changes you make are automatically saved in Drive
To store newly created Office files in Drive
In Microsoft Office, create new documents, spreadsheets, or presentations.
To store your new file in Drive, click Save to Drive and follow the instructions from there.
If you selected a file, check the Disable options to download, print, and copy for commenters and viewers box.
If you selected a folder, check the Prevent editors from changing access and adding new people box.
