165 scholastic players from 7 states descended on Dubuque last weekend for the 2016 Ice Harbor Scholastic Chess Open. Final individual and team standings (with tie breaks and trophies) are posted on the tournament website, www.iceharborchess.com. Bethany Carson's photo album of the event is a must see! Thanks to all of the people who put in the work to make this event such a success including TD/Organizers Bill Broich, Eric Vigil, Bill Feldman, Jim Hodina, Doug Campbell, Bethany Carson, and Jess Fiedorowicz. Jess (again), Gail Takahashi, and the Dubuque Area Convention & Visitors Bureau for the amazing event brochure. Of course, thanks to the Dubuque Regional Sports Commission for their financial assistance that was invested back into site rental and trophies. The Grand River Center for their hospitality. The Grand River Center and the Dubuque Holiday Inn for guest accommodations. Most importantly, a world of thanks to our friends in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois including John Thomson, Jiten Patel, Alex Betaneli, Mike Nietman, and Glenn Panner who helped promote this wonderful event. Mark your calendar for April 28-30, 2017 when we will be back.
