In the software SketchUp, we were given a project to create a table and a bench to go along with it. At first I had a lot of trouble going from a rectangular prism to a table, but I got a lot better at using the push and pull tool to hollow out the structure and make it into a table. Once I had the table, the bench was pretty easy because it was basically a smaller version of the table. Finally, I added a pre-made color texture to the table and bench to make them look cooler.
During the Greek Temple project I got a lot better at using all of the tools of sketch-up, and also experimented with some new tools. When I worked on the table and bench I had a lot of trouble with making lengths meet each other exactly. During this project I tried to use the guide tool once, and it worked really well, so I used that tool for all of my dimensions and structures, which is why there are no ends that go over a side or are too short. I also began to import other users' structures for the first time. At first the structures were way too big to fit where I wanted to put them. But, after I used the scale tool, they fit perfectly where I wanted them. In the presentation, you were only supposed to use 2 steps, but I decided to use 3. That made all of my ratios and lengths messed up. But, using the guide tool, I was able to use different lengths and make my temple work. In the middle of my temple I made my own fountain. It was hard to make a cut-out for the fountain, but it was very easy once I used the right tool. I think that I got a lot better at using all the tools through practice, and had a lot of fun making my own custom Greek Temple.
