For my first laser cutting project I made a tie clip. I took a large piece of wood and raster cut my name and my swim team, SwimMAC, onto the piece of wood. I then vector cut out the exact piece of wood that I wanted. After vector cutting once, the wood was not remotely cut into enough to cut out the piece I wanted. I then set the laser cutter to only vector cut. I then ran the design over and over again until the wood was completely cut through and ready to pop out. One of the challenges that I had was that the first time I tried to print out the design, it set on fire because the SwimMAC logo was not spread out enough. I re-edited the logo and it printed out decently the second time. However, the sides of the wood, and on the front side, were burnt. To solve this I used sand paper and smoothed out the wood. I then super glued the tie clip onto the wood to finish the project.
