Most students aren't sure what career field is right for them. Whether choosing a college major, preparing to enter the workforce, or trying to plan ahead, it's important for SCHS students to have a career goal in mind to help guide them.
Steps to determining a career:
- Brainstorm possible careers. What do friends & family members say you would be good at? What careers have you always been interested in? No matter how outlandish these may seem, they can help narrow down options to possible fields.
- If you don't know what you what you want to do, check out the different tools to help explore careers. These resources help you find careers, build a career plan, & compare different fields.
- You can also use North Carolina's Reality Check tool to help you determine how much money you'll need to make to afford the lifestyle you want to live.
- The US Department of Labor also has different tools to help match interests with possible careers.
- Take different career assessments. These include personality & interest inventories. There are TONS of available options on CFNC.
