Welcome to the Broadus Wood PTO!  The PTO is a non-profit organization of all parents, guardians, and staff at Broadus Wood and our mission is to foster the best educational experience possible for our students. We strive to do this through a variety of ways. We fund field trips and assemblies, hold after school and evening events, and purchase items to improve facilities and instruction. We also work to facilitate communication among staff and families and provide a forum to discuss long-term plans for the school.

Due to technical difficulties, all current PTO information will be posted on the homepage.
Thank you!

Muffin Wednesday

This is a service to say thank you to our teachers and staff. Every other Wednesday our volunteers bring in a light breakfast. This can just be a light treat. In the past parents have brought in yogurt and granola, bagels and cream cheese, donuts and coffee, or fresh fruit and muffins.

We ask two parents to sign up for each Wednesday. For more details and to volunteer, please go to the Muffin SignUp page on our website.

Direct Donation Campaign

Once again, we are reaching out to you for our annual Direct Donation Campaign. If you are new to our school, this is the primary way our PTO raises funds for the year. Many schools sell items or have carnival type events, but the feedback from our community has shown that people prefer to simply give directly to the PTO in the form of a charitable donation.
In September, the PTO Board established a budget for the year.  Our main expenditures are teacher support and charter buses for field trips. The rest of our funds are directed toward improvements and materials for the school, such as books, software and special teacher requests.
In order to fully fund this, our goal is to raise $6,000. This means asking our families to contribute $25 per child. We understand that not everyone is able to contribute that much and welcome any contribution you feel you can make.  We also cannot express how grateful we are to those of you who choose to be more generous, year after year. Remember that the PTO is a not-for-profit charitable 501(c)(3) organization, so direct donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed under federal tax law.
You can find a copy of our letter, which was sent home several weeks ago, here.  Please complete the information and send it with your donation in an envelope labeled "Direct Donation".  Return the envelope to school with your child via “Backpack Express.”  Checks should be made payable to Broadus Wood PTO.  If you would like to send funds via PayPal, choose the option "Send money to Friends and Family" and enter the email address "treasurer@bwpto.org". Please be sure to put your child's name, teacher, and the donor receipt information (name and address) so that we may send the tax receipt.  The Broadus Wood PTO greatly appreciates your efforts and support!

Logo Sales

PLEASE NOTE:  The Spring Logo Sale has been extended until Tuesday, April 30th.  Your child should me assigned a color for Field Day this week.

Broadus Wood Spring Logo Sale is here! Each year we coordinate the spring sale along with Field Day
which is being held on June 4th. As part of Field Day, each child is assigned to a specific color
team. A BW logo shirt is NOT required for Field Day (any shirt in your team color is fine). However,
if you have been thinking about purchasing a shirt, consider buying one during our sale. It is a fun
way to show your school spirit and avoid the last minute rush for a shirt.

Order forms were sent home last week, but you can find a copy of the form here and a copy of the items available here.

Summer Book Drive and Picnic
Thank you once again for making our Book Fair so successful! We want to keep that excitement going, especially over the summer, so mark your calendars for our Summer Book Drive!

* Donate books your family no longer reads (baby, pre-K, adult books also welcome).
* Students will choose a book(s) to take home for the summer.
* All remaining books will be available to families on the evening of Friday, May 31st.

We're also going to have our School Picnic that Friday evening. So come celebrate the end of the year with us and take home some new (for you) books!

Look for details in the coming weeks, but in the meantime please save those books for our collection.

Field Day is just around the corner!  The school needs lots of volunteers to make this a successful day for our students.  Please visit the SignUp Genius to volunteer.  Thank you!

The PTO communicates with families in several ways. Make sure you are connected!

1.  Backpack Express. Although we and the school are trying to use electronic communications as much as possible, we will occasionally send home paper flyers. Our teachers put these in your child's folder/backpack. You may also return things like order forms in this manner.

2.  The Bobcat Bulletin. This is our weekly newsletter. To make sure you receive this, simply sign up at this link.

3.  BWESNewsOnline. This is our e-mail listserv, which we primarily use for reminders and other announcements. To sign up, click on this link.
