This is the place to find out what is going on at Broadus Wood Elementary School. We are continually striving to make this site as informative and easy to use as possible, so please let us know if you have any suggestions. You can contact us by sending an e-mail to president@bwpto.org.

Spring Logo Sales

Our Spring Logo Sale is here!  Order forms were sent home on April 13th and the sale will run through April 25th.  Click the links for copies of the order form and flyer.

The PTO is sponsoring a commemorative t-shirt sale this year for the 5th grade class.  Our goal is for ALL students who desire to have one to wear on the 5th grade field trip to D.C.  Scholarships are available.  Order forms were sent home on April 16th and need to be returned by April 30th.

SOL Monitors Needed

SOL's will begin the week of May 7th.  During each test, the school needs hall monitors to help keep the hallways quiet and monitor students leaving the classrooms. Monitors may bring something quiet to occupy themselves - reading, sewing, etc. during the testing.

The first exam will be May 7th and the last on May 24th. We have scheduled monitoring from 8:30 to 11 a.m. but it's okay if you can't stay that long. Most testing is finished by 10 a.m. and having volunteers even for that first hour will be very helpful.

Please visit our SignUp Genius to volunteer.  Thank you for helping the school make these testing days run as smoothly as possible!

Maker Space Donations

Room 3 in the front hallway is the school's maker space - a designated area for classes to build and create. Of course, all that creativity requires materials! Below is a list of items that are often used throughout the year. If at any time you have any extra items, please bring them in to the school and put them in the white bin in the front hall. You may also send them in with your child, put please clearly label the items as donations for the maker space. Thank you!

Communications

The PTO communicates with families in several ways. Make sure you are connected!
  1. Backpack Express. Although we and the school are trying to use electronic communications as much as possible, we will occasionally send home paper flyers. Our teachers put these in your child's folder/backpack. You may also return things like order forms in this manner.
  2. The Bobcat Bulletin. This is our weekly newsletter. To make sure you receive this, simply sign up at this link.
  3. BWESNewsOnline. This is our e-mail listserv, which we primarily use for reminders and other announcements. To sign up, click on this link.
