FAQs
What am I doing after high school?
Mrs Knights and her team in the Careers Department in G-Block can help you sort options for when you leave high school. During Term One they will be interviewing each Year 13 and helping you make a plan.
Can I change one of my subjects?
Your Form Teacher or your Dean are your go-to people for these types of issues. We will often look at ways to make the subject work – after all, you did choose it and other options are normally full. We will suggest tutoring and meeting with your teacher to discuss ways of improving your experience in that subject.
How can I see a counsellor?
Your Form Teacher or Dean can help you set up an appointment. It is also fine to contact the counsellors directly. It’s a confidential service and you can use the normal online booking system or just email.
What if I’m not doing well academically?
Communicate your concerns with your Form Teacher in your regular chats with them. Visit your Dean and we can hook you up with academic assistance. Peer tutoring is accessed by a large number of students at Burnside – it’s the smart thing to do. Most subjects also offer tutorials on Wednesdays Period 1. Level 3 is meant to be hard! Use all assistance to help you get an edge. Ms Mentink (MVV) is a wonderful Academic Mentor who will be tracking everyone's progress and meeting with those that need extra assistance. Her office is right beside the Common Room!
