Welcome to Te Huinga Wai | Senior Division 2025
Service to the school is expected from all of our Year 13 students in some form of contribution to the school community. Things that constitute service include acts where you are doing something which benefits other people or groups within the school community.
All students should keep a log of their service hours during the course of the year. Service hours must be for school related work. There are TWO levels of Service which can be counted.
This is the basic few hours that we expect all students to have completed in order to qualify for graduation. 1 - 2 hours.
Service Awards are earned where you have volunteered your time and completed work for the school community during the course of the year. This is usually under the supervision of a member of the teaching staff and you should have kept track of the number of hours of work you have completed. Service can be accumulated in more than one area.
Please be clear on the difference between Service and Participation. Being a member of a school Basketball team is NOT service - Coaching or managing a team IS service. Where you are unsure, please check with your Dean or Mr Robertson.
Your Service Award will be presented at Graduation
Platinum - a total of 40 or more hours of service
Gold - between 30 and 40 hours of service
Silver - between 20 and 30 hours of service
If you are not a Prefect, there are numerous other ways you could get your Service Hours. These include:
