2nd Semester Event Summaries
January 26 - Quad Concert that is shared with the junior high students. This concert is one we use to help show junior high students what it is like to perform at the high school level! This concert is in the evening and free at Capital.
February 9 - Winter Concert that is just the Capital Bands (symphonic, jazz, percussion). We will be doing a full set of music ranging from band standards to more modern band literature. This concert is in the evening and free at Capital.
February 24 - Brass and Woodwind DIII Solo and Ensemble Festival at Boise State. This event is optional, but highly encouraged! Students will need to provide their own transportation to Boise State for this event. Performance times for participating students are sent two weeks prior to the event and can range anywhere from 8am-5pm
February 27 - Percussion DIII Solo and Ensemble Festival at Eagle High School. This event is optional, but highly encouraged! Students will need to provide their own transportation to Eagle High for this event. Performance times for participating students are sent two weeks prior to the event and can range anywhere from 8am-5pm.
March 9 - Percussion Ensemble Concert. This event is a percussion ensemble only concert that features the percussion section of the band! They will perform a variety of work ranging in ensemble size, solos to small groups to large ensembles. This concert is in the evening and free at Capital.
March 30 - Spring All-City Jazz Night at Borah High. This is only the jazz ensemble and it is a shared concert between all the high schools in the district. This event is in the evening and free!
April 1/2 - NNU Jazz Festival. Jazz band will perform at NNU either Thursday or Friday at the jazz festival. This is an all day event that goes into the evening. Students will need to bring money for lunch and dinner. Performance times will be announced a few weeks prior to the event.
April 8 - DIII Band Festival at Vallivue High School. This is the culminating festival for symphonic band in which we receive feedback and clinics from professional musicians. Performance day and time is determined a few weeks prior to the event. It is free and parents are welcome to attend.
April 20 - Post Festival Concert at Capital. This is the culminating performance for the large ensembles. We will present the works we performed at the spring festivals and showcase the incredible growth and musicianship of the students. This concert is in the evening and free at Capital.
May 10 - Spring Jazz Club Night with Riverglen. The jazz band will create the club experience in a wonderful night of music! This concert is in the evening at Capital, and it is also a ticketed event.
Mid May - Woodwind and Brass Chamber Music Recitals. Students will be working in small groups all second semester to prepare independent concerts. Students will decide when and where their chamber music recitals are located. Examples are during quad at lunch, at a retirement home after school, or in a public space where music could be enjoyed.
May - Graduation, we will perform at the graduation ceremony.
