A.P. Environmental Science

Mr. Daniel C. Reynolds B.S. Bio/Chem, M.Ed, State of Ohio Master Teacher

Welcome to the 2020-21 Open House at BBHHS, and more specifically, my A.P. Environmental Science course. I, as well as your son/daughter appreciate you taking the time to play an active role in your child’s education. Below you will find a quick overview of my class structure and curriculum:

Course of Study: The focus of this course will be on the environment and the overall effects of human impact on Earth as a whole. We follow the structure set forth from the College Board regarding the scope of material covered and a detailed “map” can be found on my webpage under the “Course Expectations” link. Various educational methods will be utilized including labs, projects, activities and presentations. Being that this is an A.P. level lab course, it is expected that students participate in all activities and field experiences both in and out of the classroom, including an overnight camping trip at Mohican State Park, trip to the West Creek Metroparks & Cleveland Wastewater and Purification Plant. There will be an optional trip to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park at the end of the school year. (All trips listed are Covid dependent for this year!)

Course Requirements: All students have access to the online text, hardbound text, 2 test prep workbooks, as well as multiple online resources containing various assignments, labs and notes that will be covered for the semester. As mentioned earlier, all information can be found under the course expectations link on my Webpage. Assignments will be listed on Google Classroom!

Grades: Based on homework, class work, labs, tests, quizzes, presentations, projects and participation. I keep all grades on the school-wide Gradebook grading system and strongly encourage you to monitor your child’s progress throughout the year via this system. All information regarding tests, projects, notes and homework is listed on my website.

Extra Help: I make time to be available for extra help if a student finds it necessary for one on one assistance. Please be sure that you tell your child to seek out help whenever necessary. I have a 4th period planning every day and am available after school until 3:10 as long as I do not have a scheduled tennis match. (I coach the boys and girls Varsity Tennis teams so am currently unavailable on match days after school)
