Assessment/Behavior Support Plan

THREAT OF HARM:

All threats of harm students, staff members, or others, are taken seriously. Students who make threats are referred to the school administrator, who determines will follow district policy in determining the level of threat, and implement appropriate procedures as part of a team.    Please refer to the Student Threat Assessment Safety System Site for district policy to practice guidance and forms.   The Threat Assessment Flow Chart is attached below. 

Functional Behavior Assessment

 A functional behavior assessment is a comprehensive and individualized team based strategy to: 

A functional Behavior Assessment is an ongoing assessment, which employs a team process of gathering relevant information about the specific behaviors of concern, identifying predictors/setting events, and what benefits the child receives from the problematic behavior.  

A Functional Behavior Assessment is not exclusively a Special Education activity, and can be used to identify unexpected behaviors and their functions seen in any child. 

Behavior Support Plan

The data collected during the Functional Behavior Assessment is used to develop a student-specific behavior support plan designed to recognize a child's escalation cycle, triggers that cause/maintain the unexpected behaviors, and clear steps to teach more functional, expected behaviors and reinforce target goals.
