For this assignment, you will create the laws for something. It is important to mimic the voice of the commandments. Use lofty language, superlatives, and very old sounding English. Throw in some thou's and thee's. Remember that when creating a Parody, it is important to mimic the correct tone and voice.
A reminder:
Tone: How the narrator feels about the subject - sarcastic, genuine, eager, naive.
Voice: Who is speaking - the style of the narrator.
Papers should include at least 10 laws for something, and should include both the rule and the consequence for breaking said rule:
"He who so chooses to scribe such wit without adequately addressing said requirements here set forth shall be banished to the rear of the room, as if he were a leper!"
Some ideas for laws:
-Laws for how to make an announcement at morning meeting.
-Laws for eating at lunch.
-Laws for surviving a meeting with Kevin Ward.
-Laws for fitness class.
-Laws for parents of teenagers (Fathers shall not ask how the day was, nor what the son learned, for if he chooses do to so he shall get no response, only silence, for that is how the day went!)
-Laws for riding the city bus.
-Laws for driving in the snow.
-Laws for success at Avalon.
