AP Studio Art 2018

Pablo Collingnon | 2D Design

My concentration is about showing feelings and actions with visual explosions. I chose this topic because sometimes it is difficult to express emotions with words. The explosion in my artworks shows what is unable to be expressed with words.

Michelle Gomez | 2D Design

My work depicts animals in danger of extinction. I used a graphic style with repeated patterns and textures and printed my favorite images on t-shirts to raise awareness of this critical issue.

Simona Rodriguez | Drawing

The idea I explored in my concentration is the passing of time shown through nature. Nature is the one thing humans can not control. As time goes by and nature changes its form and size, humans become completely vulnerable towards it.

Isabel Diaz | Drawing

I chose to focus on the representation of how the elderly reflect on their youth. I came up with the idea of combining youth and age to create pieces in which I do not show nostalgia on the part of the older person, but wonder for their years of youth.

Karen Amaya | Drawing

I created a series of portraits that show multiculturalism. Each piece portrays a person from a different country with landscapes, flowers and animals that represent that country.

Monica Felix | Drawing

My series is a technicolor celebration of different sizes of women in their natural and comfortable state. I chose this topic because I want to make an impact on any insecurities women have about their bodies. I was curious to see what I could create to show beauty with a body type that is sometimes not seen as beautiful.

Ana Paula Ibarra | Drawing

The focus of my concentration is nightlife. The dark gives people the comfort to be themselves and do wild things. I drew a wide range of nighttime activities with which I could show the diverse emotions that different people feel at night depending on their age and social status.

Daniela Rodriguez | Drawing

I have created a series of artworks that demonstrate the contrast, balance and dependence of life and death by drawing objects and symbols that represent these ideas. I find this topic intriguing because I have a unique interest in gory, creepy and dark subjects.

Dania Park | Drawing

I explored the impact that human routines can have on animals. My work portrays animals doing human activities that would threaten their life and lead to their extinction. A great number of species have disappeared from nature and not many of us are actually aware of this issue and the part we play in it.

Regina Escobedo | Drawing

My concentration is a discovery of my Mexican heritage through an analysis of The Labyrinth of Solitude by Octavio Paz, and The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Paz’s book about Mexican identity and Wilde’s book with references to self discovery not only helped me to better understand and love my country, but to forge my identity based on my homeland.

Teresa Lee | 3D Design

I created a series of bird masks with surface designs that reflect each bird's habitat. I focused on creating intricate textures and engaging patterns.

Paloma Hernandez | 3D Design

My concentration is about organic forms that show repetition and movement. I was inspired by forms and textures found in nature like the movement of the ocean, corals and shells.
