Advanced topics in computer mapping technology
ABOUT
Students expand upon and leverage existing knowledge and skill sets in the use of computer mapping technologies to conduct a research project on a topic of their choice. Recent examples include suitability analysis for conservation of habitat for a species of concern and land allocation for renewable energy facilities. Major themes include raster-based map algebra functions, various approaches to multicriteria evaluation including Boolean, weighted, and fuzzy overlay, and communication of research and outcomes through storytelling. Prerequisite: ENVSC 305. Offered every other year.
