Opportunities to expand existing knowledge and skill sets in the use of computer mapping technologies (2-4 credits)
Advances in GeoAI
GeoAI or geospatial artificial intelligence is changing the way data and information is being generated in support of research. This independent study focuses exclusively on GeoAI approaches to the detection, extraction, and classification of real-world entities from imagery products derived from remote sensing platforms such as aerial photography and satellite imagery. The primary outcome will be learning how to produce accurate and up-to-date landuse/landcover (LULC) information to support a diverse range of mapping projects. Students are introduced to a variety of methods and learn the advantages, disadvantages, and applications of each. Prerequisite: ENVSC 305
